DeSoto Cabin/Hiking Trip 
Cost:  $275.00
We will hike along Azalea Cascade Trail and follow the Little River atop    	Lookout Mountain in Alabama viewing over 100 ft waterfalls and beautiful 	gorges.  This trip is rated easy.

2010 Trip Schedule

 

FULL-April 23 - 25, 2010: Savage Gulf & Foster Falls trails are full of history and beauty.  The gulf is like the fingers of a hand carved out of the Cumberland Plateau.  It is one of the true wildernesses still remaining. 

 

FULL—May 7 - 9, 2010 (rescheduled to July 23 – 25, 2010): Bledsoe Creek (camp/canoe) meanders through farmland and woodland full of wildlife and finally flows into Old Hickory Lake.  We’ll paddle the lake to the creek and will see blue herons, cranes, turtles, and fish jumping out of the water. 

 

FULL-June 11 - 13, 2010: Rock Island (camp/canoe) Imagine sitting in a canoe and viewing the beautiful waterfalls of Rock Island.  Learn how to canoe in the still waters, stop at a sand bar and enjoy a swim, or simply watch the birds soar above. 

 

FULL-September 17-19, 2010:  Cumberland Mountain. We will hike sections of the Cumberland Trail overlooking a national natural landmark, Grassy Cove, and we’ll make a trip over to Ozone Falls. 

 

FULL-October 22-24, 2010Pickett/Big South Fork. We’ll stay in one of the rustic cabins at Pickett State Park which was built by the Civilian Conservation Corp.  There are some great trails around the park that we’ll hike. 

 

FULL-November 12-14, 2010:  Nathan Bedford Forrest. We’ll stay in a cabin that overlooks Kentucky Lake.  There are over 30 miles of hiking trails in the park which range from .5 mile to 20 miles.  We’ll probably opt for something in between.
