Fiery Gizzard

Fiery Gizzard Tent Camping.  Ready to hike the legendary Fiery Gizzard Trail?  The same one Davy Crockett traveled.  Legend has it that the area got its name when Davy Crockett was camping in the gulf and burned his mouth eating a hot gizzard.  We will explore the trail beginning with Foster Falls, a beautiful waterfall with a sixty-foot drop at the southern entrance of the trail where we will be camping.  The next day, our great wilderness experience will continue by exploring the Grundy Forest side of the pristine trail.  We will have lunch at the ‘fruit bowl,’ among a pile of house-size boulders.

On our way home, we will stop by the famous Dutch Maid Swiss Bakery for a sample of their salt risen homemade breads and delicious desserts on the way to the coal ovens at Grundy Forest.

This is a tent camping and hiking trip.  Trails are rated easy to moderate.
